Whole Brain Teaching
WBT is large and has lots of pieces. The focus for me, as a special area teacher traveling to various classrooms is simple, improvement and engagement. Especially in language learning, the students must be engaged and practicing in the target language. WBT is physical, visual, and FUN!
Teaching across the grades levels, I am able to utilize the core techniques of WBT (CLASS, YES, TEACH-OK!, MIRRORS, HANDS and EYES) to activate critical thinking and reinforcement while at the same time exercise positive classroom management. The techniques and activities are effective for ANY grade level, ANY subject, ANY ability.
What I personally love most about WBT is that the focus is on personal improvement and record breaking and not on perfection. The same kids do not get praise all of the time. Emphasis is placed on advancement and setting goals and not on excellence.
